Sub 2 hour marathon

Recently Nike allowed some reporters to watch the test group make an attempt to run the sub 2 hour marathon pace for a half marathon (13.1 miles). 2 of the 3 subjects were able to run the half in under an hour. Per  Runners World the course was basically on a track and there was a Tesla running in front of the pack at the desired pace with info displayed on the back of it. Speaking of the pack from what I read that had a group running around the test subjects to block wind.

Basically what i'm gathering is that this experiment by Nike is all about testing whether or not the human body can even do it. They are trying to eliminate the other variables (wind, elevation, etc). I feel that this will at some point change the way marathoners train and I expect to see world and specific marathon records fall in the next 5-10 years as elite coaches are able to learn the techniques Nike used. I know there is more to come but its a pretty excited project.

Tell me what your thoughts are on this whole thing...
